The HP Slate is a tablet computer. Tablets computers are basically when an entire computer system is stuffed into a single, easy to use package. That may sound like a laptop, but tablets have one key difference. Instead of having a dual fold design like a laptop where one side is the keyboard and the other a screen, a tablet is only a screen. With virtual keyboards your hands tend to drift because of the lack of physical feedback. This drifting hand syndrome makes it so the amounts of typos you generate are going to be huge.

The only real way to combat the lack of good typing speeds is to inform you that tablets aren't designed to do the making of a document; rather, they are built to present or read things. With only a single USB port, consider investing in a USB hub so you can expand that single slot into as many as you need.
