This means your body is not performing anywhere near its best. All this has a negative effect on your acne and on any other health condition you may have. It is essential to find a natural, drug-free way to reduce your stress.

Physical Activity - Stretching

Physical activity is my favourite ant-stress medicine because it has the double effect of relieving stress and making your body healthier. This does two things for your acne: removes one cause of acne and gets your blood pumping around your body. This means your blood is taking oxygen and nutrients to your skin.


It is great if you can run or walk outdoors but you do not need to do this. There are exercises you can do in your lounge room or bedroom. Start with stretching - there is plenty of information on the Internet to show you how. Buy a book on Yoga exercises and start with the simple ones. As you stretch, control you breathing so you find a rhythm. Concentrate on what you are doing so your mind is off whatever is causing you stress. You can do this as many times a day as you need to. Even these gentle exercises improve circulation, release tension and help heal acne.

Other Indoor Physical Activity

Walk on the spot. Move your arms and legs as if you were out walking. Keep doing this for longer and longer periods. You will be helping your mind and body deal with stress and you will start to feel better physically, which makes you feel better mentally. I often do this exercise with light hand weights for 20-30 minutes. Try it a few times a week and you will notice the difference in yourself. Of course, if you have somewhere you can swim, run, walk or cycle on a regular basis then that is a great way to get your exercise and control your stress levels. Whatever way you choose to control stress it is essential you do find a way - it is essential for your physical and mental health. If you are physically and mentally healthy there is a good chance your adult acne will improve and you will experience fewer outbreaks.
