Advice On Interior Painting

Any type of painting is a big job, but interior painting involves so many colors

, choices and techniques. Some paint to give their room a face lift while others are on a very driven mission. There are so many things that can be done with paint, techniques and colors that it makes almost anything possible. It does take a little know how as well as the right tools to accomplish those painting goals. In other words be prepared before tackling any size of painting project.

Prep Is Time Consuming But Important

Nobody likes to prep, it seems like a waste of time and most want to get down to whatever delivers the results and that is the interior painting! Before starting, move as much furniture out of the room as possible, what cannot be moved should be fully covered. Tape all baseboards, windows seals and other fixtures that cannot be removed. Remember light covers, electric sockets, hinges, latches and so on. Also make sure that any holes in the wall are filled with spackling. Cover anything that does not need paint splattered on it, no matter how careful, paint splatter is inevitable!

A Few Quick Techniques

After prepping the room, it is a good idea to engage in a technique known as cutting in. There are handheld tools that help with this, or a small paint brush can be used instead. Cutting in simply refers to painting a strip around the top of the wall, down to about 3 or 4 inches from the ceiling, the same can be done for above the baseboard. This allows interior painting to go quicker because the roller can be moved to the strip that was cut in without having to go all the way to the ceiling. Using a roller right next to the ceiling generally results in a mess!
