The cost to start an article marketing campaign is very low compared to pay per click (Google Ad words). Article marketing has changed in the last few years and has put affiliate marketers in a position where they have more overhead than they use to. It is still by far the cheapest way to advertise and start a business.

Article submission directories is an very important component in the article advertising campaign. There are two ways affiliate marketers can use articles submitted to their advantage. First they will find the directories that consistently rank high in the search engines. They want these articles to make it to the first page and hopefully first position of that page. You want exposure to your article and the traffic you receive is natural and free. In the article usually the resource or bio box, you will have a link to your web site or vendor's sales page ( Make sure you abide by the directories guidelines or you could get suspended).

The second way to use articles is to submit them to the directories as one way back links that point to you web site or blog. These back links make your site or blog look good in Google's eye and they will reward the site by moving it up in the search engine result pages. This brings more exposure to your sites and of course, more free traffic. Now you can see this is the object of having a website and you can send your targeted traffic to the vendor's sales or landing page. Hopefully your traffic will click through to the sales page and buy the product. You will get a commission from every purchase and this process is what we call affiliate marketing.

A beginning marketer might look at this process and feel they can't be successful at article marketing. I will be honest with you and tell you there is work involved in internet marketing so don't get caught up in the glitter of false promises. If there are the get rich quick schemes advertised on the net for real, I haven't found any. Most people that have tried them would tell you they lost a lot of money for nothing near what they were promised.
