Affiliate Marketing For Beginners

If you are like most people, you have some sort of interest in a particular niche

, whether it be golf, cooking or dog training. So why not make some cash from whatever it is you are passionate about. All you have to do is find your niche, build a website around it and then post banners and links on your site. No problem right?

Well not really. It isn't as easy as I make it sound. Affiliate marketing is the process by which you join an affiliate program. Once accepted you then begin to promote the product which your affiliate is trying to sell. You recommend the product and if a reader buys through your link, you are given a commission. That commission can be anywhere from 3% to 75%.

The benefit of affiliate marketing is that your only role is to generate the lead. Once the reader buys through your link, everything else is up to the affiliate. They provide the product or service as well as the customer service. To make affiliate marketing work, you are going to have to put in work. Not hard work, but you will need to be willing to invest time into promoting your affiliates' products. You will not get rich overnight which is contrary to what a lot of gurus will lead you to believe. Don't believe it.

Once you find your niche you will have to research products and see what is hot for your website's topic. It makes no sense in having a website about golf and then placing banner ads for beauty products on it. So be prepared to research the products you plan to sell and make sure they are something people in your niche would be interested in.

As I said before you won't get rich overnight. You will need thousands of visitors to your website and that takes time. But once you do start seeing traffic you will want to make sure you have quality content written on your pages. Then you will have affiliate links in your content that will drive people to the products you are promoting.

You will also want to have some sort of newsletter on your site. That way you will be building an email list and you will get return traffic when you send out your newsletter. This is also a great way to pre-sell products you want to promote. So be sure to have a sign-up box on all the pages of your website or blog.

So is affiliate marketing for you? I think so. Anyone can do it. With determination and hard work it can be done.
