I have been an affiliate marketer for over eight years now
. I am a full time internet marketer in part because of my affiliate commissions. I love the fact that I can make money from home using my computer with affiliate programs.
However, there are certain things that just do not work in affiliate marketing. These are mistakes you can avoid to make sure you make money with affiliate programs.
1. Join to many programs. Have you ever been on a website that is just loaded with banners?
These are almost always built by a new affiliate marketer who thinks more is better. In reality nothing could be further from the truth.
People tend to join affiliate programs and quit them to join a new one because it's easy and it's free. It's exciting to get involved with a new affiliate program, but that's not going to make you any money.
I personally have found that the best affiliate product sales I have are with programs and products I have purchased and used. I might add that the most sales come from the products and programs I like the best.
You are better to focus on those and make each one as profitable as possible before joining another program.
2. It's easy to make money with affiliate programs. Based on the failure rate in affiliate marketing this is not true either.
You will need to learn how to promote on the Internet if you're going to make any sales. Once you get adequate amount of traffic to your affiliate sites, or your own websites, then it is easy to make money with affiliate programs because you can play the numbers to a certain extent.
3. Affiliate marketing is free. Joining an affiliate programs is usually free.
There are ways to promote online that do not cost money either, but you will have to learn how to get traffic to your website. Ultimately to increase your income you will need to increase your traffic and your number of affiliate websites, and that is going to take some money.
4. Easy to learn how to make money. You certainly do not need to be a rocket scientist to become a successful affiliate marketer.
I don't think it's hard to learn how to make money, but I do think it's hard to discipline yourself to become successful. You will have a steep learning curve at first, and then you will have some trial and error to find what works for you.
These are all things that do not work as an affiliate marketer. However, they're all things you can correct and improve on to make more money.
