Akiles Ecobind-c Plastic Comb Binding Machine Review

Having been in the comb binding business for over 10 years

, and having handled dozens of different models of machines, Id have to say that the Akiles EcoBind-C is probably one of the best entry-level comb binders I have used. This machine, available from ABCOffice.com, has almost every feature you could want in a manually operated comb-binding machine. Here are a few reasons why you may want to consider the EcoBind-C for your bookbinding operations.

First off Id like to cover the build quality. If youre not familiar with Akiles, they make the best machines on the market. I personally consider them to be better than GBC, Fellowes and many others out there. The EcoBind-C is no exception. It features durable metal construction, and if used properly, should easily hold up for years.

How many times have you used a comb binding machine, but the handle was awkward to use or positioned on the wrong side of the machine? The EcoBind-C uses a unique all around punch handle (U Shaped) that allows you to grasp it and punch paper from multiple angles. It also allows for two-handed operation. This makes paper punching extremely easy.

The Akiles EcoBind-C has a 20-sheet capacity when punching standard copy paper. It can also be used to punch multiple sheets of card stock, poly covers and clear covers. With a 2" binding capacity, the 20-sheet capacity really pays off. It takes just minutes to completely bind a book.

While the EcoBind-C really finds its mark with letter-size paper, it has a wide 12" punching length and is open ended, allowing for the punching of even longer sheets of paper. It can also be used to punch and bind smaller sheets of paper. Each of the punching pins are disengageable, which means the can be turned on or off. This completely eliminates half-punched holes on th4e edges of paper.

This comb binding machine also features a depth margin control. This means the EcoBind-C will punch holes at the correct depth on your sheets of paper to handle the proper thickness you will be binding. Holes are more shallow on thinner documents and deeper on thicker books and reports.

This comb binder features a large waste bin that gathers punched holes of paper. Once full, it can easily be pulled out and emptied. A large work surface also helps assist in more easily binding books.

Not only is the Akiles EcoBind-C an effective comb binder, it also looks good. While looks may not be everything, it really blends in nicely in an office environment. It can be placed on a desk, table or countertop and weighs in at 25 pounds.
