All About Birthday Cakes

Who has not had cake atleast once when celebrating the day of your birth

. When one remembers birthdays, birthday cakes follow right behind it. What ever the age, what ever the taste, what ever the style there are birthday cakes to suit all. Birthday cakes are now available in different types. Sheet cakes are still the most popular and come in various sizes. Tiered cakes are another type which is commonly home baked. The speciality being the various fillings one can choose from whether its candy, jelly or custard you name it and you will get it. Cup cake cakes are a favourite specially among children. With cupcakes arranged in shape of a cake, there is no hustle of cutting the cake as people can take each cup cake separately and feast on together. Shaped cakes are another favourite among children. Cakes are made in the shape of a favourite cartoon figure or flower, trees or even cars. These cakes are also very colourful as they maintain the actual colours of the image it is made to resemble.

Then there are flavours to suit all tongues. From the normal chocolate and vanilla flavours, cakes have evolved to introduce cakes in flavours of fruits, vegetables and even coffee and wine. Cakes are also made as a mixture of two flavours or more. Fruits are also baked within the cakes to give a delightful flavour.

While few prefer plain cakes, icing cakes are still the most favourite among the public. Ready made frosting is available at stores. Homemade frostings can be experimented with various items as vanilla, strawberry, banana or the most common dark chocolate and normal chocolate.

To add taste to taste, toppings are added on top of the frosting to give a better look and fresh flavour. This can be anything from roasted nuts to various little sweets. Even non eatables like plastic decorations and candles are a common favourite.

Birthday cakes are always first in line yesterday today and tomorrow when it comes to celebrating birthdays. Thought the types may change, the custom will not and cake bakers will never run out of business.
