Amitriptyline is an antidepressant and tricyclic medicine which can cause some serious

side effects if not used properly or according to the doctors prescription. There are a lot of people who come across Amitriptyline side effects which is a result of prolonged used of the medication and also high dosage in order to get instant relief which leads to side effects and various harmful reactions. As far as the anticholingeric side effects are concerned, they will include dry mouth, urinary maintenance and even constipation. It is one substance that stops or blocks the process of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter of the brain which helps in appropriate performance. Amitriptyline also cause problems to heart and these are some serious side effects that take place with quite frequency and that is the exacerbation of a cardiac rhythm interruption. In such situation there are a lot of chances that you may come across a heart attack and due to this reason EKG is recommended before you finally start taking your medication.

When you finally start taking Amitriptyline , make sure that you avoid taking it with some other medications. For instance, Tricyclic antidepressants such as amitriptyline are not recommended to be used with monoamine oxidase inhibitors such as Deprenyl (Anipryl), it is considered as unsafe for use. Also, if you take methimazole with the continouse use of Amitriptyline, there are chances that you may develop white blood cells. You need to avoid the use of Cimetadine (Tagamet) because that can interfere the effect of Amitriptyline and you need to make yourself clear that n order to get positive results from Amitriptyline, you should use it without any other drugs with anticholinergic effects as it could lead to serious side effects. In order to avoid the side effects, make sure you take the medication with the consultation of a well qualified doctor because they can guide you the best way to use it to avoid any side effects and complications.
