An Introduction To The Miami Music Scene

Miami is mainly known for its sun-kissed sands

, tropical weather, and beautiful people, but thats not all there is to this laid back city. Miami is an area packed with culture and has a flourishing music scene with enough diversity to keep everyones ears happy.

Local artists and international superstars perform regularly in the area of Miami, and with a legacy comprising world famous artists such as 2 live crew, Marilyn Manson and Flo Rida, to name but a few, its no surprise that Miami attracts some of the biggest musical names from around the globe.

From intimate clubs to large arenas, the variety of venues in Miami is astonishing. Some of the best venues in the area include The Electric Pickle, The Stage, The Fillmore and The Culture Room. Many of the night clubs in the area regularly play host to some of the figureheads of electronic music, but the scene is so varied that theres no set specific genre that pulls in the crowds.

Fat Boy Slim, Janet Jackson, Moby and The Cure are just some of the huge names set to perform in the Miami area in 2012. Arguably Miamis biggest export is Latino-pop sensation, Enrique Iglesias, who often returns to the town he was raised in to perform for his legions of fans in the city. This is usually at Miamis biggest, and arguably best music venue, The American Airlines Arena.

Locally known as The Triple A, The American Airlines Arena is the place to be for the biggest names in modern music. At the time of writing, the last three shows to hit town were Kanye West & Jay-Z, Guns and Roses and Radiohead, who chose to launch their US tour at the epically proportioned arena. The electric atmosphere and exquisite sound quality make this one of the best music venues in the USA.

Due to the huge Hispanic population, Miami has a thriving Latino music scene. The Latino version of MTV is stationed in the area, and there are numerous radio stations dedicated to playing both classic and modern Latino music. Da Vittorio, La Covacha and Jazid are probably Miamis biggest and best known venues for this genre of music in the city.

Whatever your taste in music, theres something for all music fans in Miami. And from epic concerts in huge arenas to string quartets playing in Miami hotel lobbies, youre never far from music in the Magic City.
