An Overview Of The Philanthropic Efforts Of Elizabeth Rehnke

Elizabeth Rehnke developed keen interest in missionary travels quite early on in her life mainly because of her father

. Dr. Ernest Rehnke, who apart from being Elizabeths father was also a renowned and highly reputed medical surgeon and was in charge of five humanitarian missions carried out in Kenya, Guatemala, Haiti, Ecuador and Honduras where his medical camps distributed free medicine while the Rehnke family also participated in providing free healthcare and nursing services to some of the most underprivileged people in the respective countries. Liz Rehnke was different from other girls because by the time she was eleven she was already working alongside her father in the free medical camps. This early experience in life inspired Liz to take up philanthropy as a lifelong passion.

Dr. Ernest Rehnke who practiced as a professional medical surgeon for nearly three decades was accustomed to undertaking missionary trips to backward countries during his vacations and his wife and daughter were also part of such trips. Instead of spending vacations on some exotic locations, Elizabeth Rehnke and her father used to spend their vacations in poor countries of South America and Africa to do philanthropic work. The camps set up by Dr. Ernest did appreciable work in terms of supplying free medical care to that section of the population which was least privileged.

Working in these relief camps, Liz Rehnke used to spend hours nursing sick patients and this life-changing experience instilled a passion within her heart to help out humanity. Meanwhile, the respectable figure of Dr. Ernest Rehnke also encouraged Liz to turn philanthropy into her lifes ambition.

Like many leading philanthropists and humanitarian relief workers, Elizabeth Rehnke has had to make great sacrifices on a personal level to be able to continue her humanitarian works. However, Liz was fully aware of the fact that she would only be able to go ahead with her humanitarian plans if she could receive help from humanitarian organizations. Liz Rehnke decided to work with renowned social organizations and non-governmental organizations to make possible the establishment of medical camps in different African and South American nations. These medical camps not only provided free medicine and ample food supplies to the related populations but also raised awareness about hygiene to put an end to the danger of epidemics. Elizabeth has also focused her attention on collecting donations for lifting up the literacy rate in poverty stricken areas by establishing schools.
