An Unassuming Business Phone Plus - The Nokia 6121 Classic by:Simon Drew
No heads will turn when you take the Nokia 6121 Classic out your pocket
. Its got no large touchscreens or fancy sliders you see virtually on every young techie out there. Its 2.2" color LCD display on a candybar form may be huge in 2000, but quite a pittance in 2007 when it first came out.
But this is one mobile phone everyone would be glad to own. It's a versatile business phone, camera phone and multimedia/internet phone in one. For mobile savvy techies who like the Symbian S60 features that run the Nokia 6121 Classic, this is a great back-up phone for their N series. Beneath such an unassuming, totally unattractive body is a communications and infotainment engine that packs a wallop for its size and prize.
Ups and Downs, mostly Ups
Given that it doesn't support Wi-fi/WLAN, making it impossible for you to surf the net in so-called Hotspots in malls and cafes, there's still so many reasons to get it. Not the least of which is a friendly price that screams great value for the phone. Check these out:
- It's a quad band GSM smartphone that supports high-speed networks for 3G, HSDPA and HSUPA, allowing users to surf and download data on the internet at speeds that rival or even exceed broadband at home.
- You get to enjoy vivid display of images on its 2/2" LCD TFT screen. That's because it supports 24-bit color depth of 16million colors that makes the phone screen one of the most brilliant out there.
- Its 2.0 megapixel camera may not be leading edge, but for a phone this size, that's the most you get. It comes with LED flash that captures QVGA video at 15fps. Quite good for a mobile phone at this price point.
- There's support for Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and AVRCP that lets you use Bluetooth stereo headphones.
- FM Radio s thrown in as well.
- It sports 2.5mm audio output jack for your favorite high fidelity stereo headsets.
- It supports the cheap industry-wide microSD memory card for up to 8Gb for all your large multimedia files on the road.
A Great Outlook
This is certainly another capable Nokia phone that is sure to win a loyal following especially among Nokia owners of outdated smartphones. It's as unobtrusive as it is impressive in features and performance. Not to mention a great value for feature/price ratio. Solid build with a great feel to the hands besides, this is another winner for Nokia.
