Analysis Of Smartphone Market 2012 Q3
Smartphone market continues to grow and prosper as the two giants in the domain (Android and iOS) battle over the market-shares
. Data analysis firms have finished analyzing the 2012 third quarter sales of smartphones, and I have compiled a short report relaying the published results.
Smartphone market analysis (Q3 2012)
According to International Data Corporation reports relayed by DigiTimes.com:
The overall share of Android in the smartphone market has climbed to 75%.
At 91.5%, the on-year growth of Android is almost double the total smartphone market growth (which stands at 46.4%).
Out of the total 181.1 million smartphone units shipped in 2012 Q3, 136 million were powered by Android.
Out of the 181.1 million smartphones, 26.9 million were iPhones.
Even though the launch of iPhone 5 has hurt Androids position in the market to some extent, Android continues to hold the major market-share in the smartphone market. TechCrunch has following information to spare based on Kantar Worldpanel Comtechs latest analysis (based on September 2012 data):
Though the launch of iPhone 5 has definitely given a boost to iOSs US market share from 21.5% last year to 35.7%, Android still leads the market with a share of 57.5%.
In the UK market, the share of iOS is 28%, against the 58.2% of Android.
This analysis makes it evident that the demand for talented application developers in both the platforms would continue to grow. Android Development still has a bit of an advantage over iOS in this regard, because Android is open-source.
The rise of Indian mobile applications market
Another great piece of news is that the Indian mobile applications market is on a rise. In fact reports quote that India is the third fastest growing mobile applications market.
Read more about that in this article.Looking at these optimistic projections, it is safe to say that mobile applications development would be a great addition to the skill-set of any developer, and if they are good enough, they can easily make some decent money using their skills. The only prerequisite of learning Android Development is knowledge of Java.
In order to help IT graduates and professionals develop these skills, Edureka has designed a 6 week course to teach Android Development to beginners.
The course would cover everything from Java essentials to advanced Android programming. This includes building actual Android applications.
You can check out the
details of Edurekas Android Development Training for beginners here. The course for iOS app development is all set to be launched too.
