Animal Wellness: Ultimate Aim of Every Pet Owner

Animals, like humans, have physiological processes that should be monitored regularly. Recent scientific studies have shown that certain physiological processes can be used to monitor stress levels of animals. Stress is a very important indicator when it comes to animal health. This is not something that should be taken for granted. It takes a lot of skills to understand animal behaviour, for unlike us, animals can't verbalize how they feel and tell us exactly what is wrong.

Thus, for our pets to be at their optimum health, we should make sure we provide all their needs. Owners should aim for preventive measures that will boost animal health in the short run and over-all animal wellness in the long run.

One of the most basic pet care practices is to be able to provide proper nourishment. This is, of course, aside from the vitamins and supplements that our veterinarian gives our pets. All of us should know that the significance of their diet goes beyond the physical fitness of our pets. Proper nourishment also plays a crucial role in extending the life span of our pets. To achieve over-all animal wellness, we need to give them a well balanced diet full of all the things that their active bodies require. Essential nutrition requirements include water, energy, protein, especially amino acids and nitrogen, needful fatty acids, as well as minerals and vitamins. A well balanced diet containing all of these assures us that our they will have the prerequisite amount of macro and micro nutrients which are vital for right growth, development, and optimum health.

Another basic pet care practice that we should never forget is to bring them to the vet for regular check-ups. The schedule of these check-ups depends on how the veterinarian sees the needs of each pet. One of the most important trips to the clinic that should not be missed is the annual exam. Annual exams are very important because animals are diagnosed for early warning signs of serious problems like cancer or diabetes. These problems will surely affect our pets in the future. If these problems are detected early, chances are, they can easily be corrected or at the very least, treated so as to slow down their progress.

Lastly, never underestimate what immunization shots can do. Vaccinations are very important for dogs, cats, and other pets. Vaccinations are examples of a preventive practice used to guard against diseases. Some common shots for dogs include distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvovirus, parainfluenza, and corona combination between six to eight, nine to eleven, twelve to fourteen, and sixteen to seventeen weeks. These shots are repeated every twelve months. The next vaccination is bordetella, administered at fourteen weeks and every six months. Rabies must be given at sixteen weeks and again every twelve to thirty- six months.

These are just some of the measures directed to improve your pets' over-all wellness. Whatever you choose to do, always remember that it is our task, as pet owners, to monitor the state of our their health.
