Annie Lennox came into this world on Christmas day (December 25th) in 1954, just a few years after my mother was born. Annie Lennox was born in Scotland, which is part of the United Kingdom. It was in 1980 that she formed the band The Eurythmics. It was during her time as a founding member of The Eurythmics that Annie Lennox wrote some of her greatest songs, indeed - some of the greatest pop songs of the 1980s.

Who can forget "Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This", "Here Comes The Rain Again", and of course, the dance pop song "Love Is A Stranger"? I, for one can certainly never forget this music of Annie Lennox. If one listens to "Lite Rock" radio - these songs of Annie Lennox are certain to be heard on any given day.

Fast-forward to the lost decade that was the 1990s, and Annie Lennox decided to release herself from the bondage and constrains of a duo, and embark on a more satisfying if less commercially successful solo career. She did achieve success with such songs as "Walking On Broken Glass" and "Why", but in reality, these were not the instant classics that she created as part of the The Eurythmics. But such is life. Sometimes you just have to go for it and do the best you can. Annie Lennox is to be commended for her gusto and bravery. Hoorah!

Annie Lennox has been the recipient of many music industry awards, for what they are worth. She has been granted 8 BRIT Awards, and has also won a Golden Globe Award as well as Academy Award for Best Original Song for Lord of the Rings. Yes, it's true. Additionally, Annie Lennox has sold over 8 million albums worldwide. Not tooshabby, I would say.
