Some of us will have a hobby that will allow us to break loose from our tiresome and tedious lives. Many of us might go fishing and others of us may collect certain things. One of the better things to collect are antique dishes. If you are lucky than you will have started your collection by receiving something passed down from your mom or nanna.
What I love the most about these is the history behind them and the hard work that was put into producing every one. If you have a genuine antique than you have something that was in all likelihood made a hundred years ago or even longer. The producer put their hearts and soul into making it with their own hands and than painting a stunning design that they came up with and painted themselves.
Each one must be taken care of and dealt with care. It is also important to understand how much all of them will cost you. That way you recognize just how precious they are and what you will be passing down to your children.
The greatest way that you can do this is to take each one that you own to an appraiser. They will study the plates and can tell you who made it and any flaws that it has that can take away from the value of it. In the end they will be able to give you an estimated monetary value of it.
Sometimes you will not have an authenticator in your city or it is much too pricey to take each piece. Why not do the research yourself? You will be able to find a good book on contrasting antiques plate values and attempt to find out for yourself the history that is behind it. Once you understand who made it and during what time period you will understand the price for it.
