Anxiety attack disorder is an often misunderstood condition
. It is sometimes believed that anxiety attack disorder is caused by biological reasons or is genetically passed down because members of the same family can suffer from it. The truth is no medical evidence has been found to support this.
It may be that anxiety disorders are learned as a result of the way we behave, and it runs in families because of the environmental factors in the household. The 17 to 25 year old age group has the highest incidence of onset. Even young children can experience anxiety disorder, but many times they are misdiagnosed as having the flu or something similar because they are feeling sick.
Anxiety disorders usually start with an unexplained attack that leaves the person wondering what just happened. As more attacks begin to happen, the anxiety created by this mystery and the fear of another attack actually compounds the problem and makes the attacks worse. It becomes a vicious cycle with no apparent end in sight.
The earlier anxiety disorders are treated the better. The longer one waits to try to overcome it the more difficult it becomes because the conditions become more deeply ingrained. It is treatable at any age or stage so there is no reason for someone not to make an attempt.
Be aware there are no quick fixes because the underlying factors that cause the anxiety attacks must be unlearned. Someone that does nothing about it is going to find that it will never go away on its own. This is something that must be attacked using a combination of self help and possibly some coaching or therapy.
