Anxiety Disorders - Definition and Causes
It's not very clear why or how does this disease occur, but the main trigger is thought to be stress overload. Also, substance abuse - caffeine, drugs or alcohol, brain abnormalities, biochemical imbalances inside the organism, emotional hypersensitivity and genetics are related to anxiety disorders. This mental condition can appear as a consequence of some traumatic event, such as the death of a friend, a divorce or undesired changes at the workplace. As you can see, there are several physical and environmental factors which can lead to this type of mental diseases.
Anxiety disorders symptoms
The most common symptoms of anxiety disorders are exaggerated and illogical fear about various events, even if we talk about less or more significant ones. A patient affected by this mental illness permanently feels scared and constantly worries about any decision he has to take. He has serious difficulties if he tries to relax and to think positive, he cannot concentrate or rest and he frequently accuses headaches, nausea, shortness or difficulties in breathing and hot flashes.
Social fears are also signs of anxiety disorders. The sufferer has, most of the times, a social phobia, which means he is frightened to talk in front of smaller or bigger groups, he feels permanently watched and judged. During anxiety crisis, most of the patients accuse sweating, shaking, blushing, trembling, dizziness or muscle aches.
You can recognize a person affected by this mental condition by his permanent fear that something bad is going to happen to him or to any other person he loves. The sufferer has sometimes flashbacks of traumatic events, feels his mouth dry and his heartbeats are faster than normal, so he thinks he's having a heart attack.
Other anxiety disorders symptoms include obsessive-compulsive behaviors, defined by the fact that the sufferer has thoughts that are distasteful to him. For example, he thinks he'll get infected if he touches somebody else, or he's convinced the door remained open, so he checks and rechecks it several times.
