Stop Suffering From Anxiety - Try The 20 Second Countdown
If you are suffering from anxiety or panic attacks, here is something you may want to try. This is a very simple way to help take away your fear of an anxiety attack. This technique gives you something else to focus your attention on when you feel a panic building up in you. It's a simple exercise and you will find it is easy to remember this.
We can call this the 20 second countdown. As soon as you detect any feelings of anxiety building, tell that anxiety that it only has 20 seconds to do its thing or time is up. Give it no more than 20 seconds to reach its full anxiety attack level, regardless of the sensations that you fear.
If you think you are going to lose control, your mind only has 20 seconds to do it. If your heart is beating fast then it only has 20 seconds and it's done. You think you are going to faint then you only have 20 seconds. This goes for any sensations you may be feeling. By setting this time restraint you are establishing your boundaries of your control. You can turn this into a game where you bluff your fear into subsiding.
Take a stand against your anxiety, bring an end to worrying about your next attack. When you feel a panic attack approaching, tell yourself that it only has 20 seconds then no more and starting counting nice and slow. Hold back and resist counting fast, be deliberate. Be a tease while counting even adding half's and three quarters between some numbers to prolong the count.
