First of all you need to take a look at the shoes you are going to wear. Athletic footwear plays a large role during a persons working out because it provides flexibility and support not only for your feet but also for your entire body. If you are doing squats and leg exercises, running or jogging, you need solid shoes that support your feet and your legs. Having improper shoes can not only not support your feet but can actually cause damage to your bones, tendons and ligaments, which could potentially take you out of your exercise routine for several weeks.

If you are undecided about whether to wear pants or wear shorts, consider a few different things. First of all, pants need to be worn when you are doing dead lifts because it keeps your leg from continually rubbing up against the bar, which can really beat your shins up. Pants at other times kind of are just dependent on your preferences and choices, whichever ones you are comfortable in. If you are running, you may want to see if your shorts tend to ride up on you if they do, you will probably want to stick with pants of some sort. At other times, if shorts are comfortable, you will stay a bit cooler wearing those.

Be sure that you choose shirts that suit your workout. If you are doing arm exercises, you will want a tank top or at least a very short sleeved shirt. Long sleeved shirts are usually worn when people are training their legs, and the harder the exercise is, the faster the pump. It is the pump that draws the blood away from your upper body down to your legs, and as a result your upper body will not get a workout with your upper body. If you continue to do this, your upper body will continue to lack a work out while your lower body gets a work out, and you may end up with some unwanted results.
