Apple Has Cookd Up A Plan
Once a year in America, droves of people line up for what certain critics have dubbed The Jesus Phone
. Yep, the phone in question is Apples iPhone, and its a pretty nifty device. (This writer is a Blackberry guy, but then again, I cant use a touchscreen to save my life.) Well, rumor mill has it (from some pretty reliable sources) that the new iPhone5 will be unveiled on October 4th, 2011. The phone should be available a few weeks after that.
This big media event for Apple isnt important because of the iPhone. Its important because of who will be delivering the address to the crowd. Tim Cook, Apples new CEO, will be the main event.
Its the first time hell be delivering such a keynote speech at an Apple event, and itll be his first as head of the company. Its more than just the iPhone this time around too. This is the chance for him to prove to the outside world that Apple can succeed without Jobs. Steve Jobs is legendary. Its like having your star QB in the huddle. You know nothing can go wrong. Thats the presence that Jobs carried with him. He built confidence and a creative atmosphere. Cook needs to convey this to the public in order to show that theyre not going to be a different company moving forward. He began building that trust day one.
According to ars technica, Cook sent an email to all Apple employees:
Team:
I am looking forward to the amazing opportunity of serving as CEO of the most innovative company in the world. Joining Apple was the best decision Ive ever made and its been the privilege of a lifetime to work for Apple and Steve for over 13 years. I share Steves optimism for Apples bright future.
Steve has been an incredible leader and mentor to me, as well as to the entire executive team and our amazing employees. We are really looking forward to Steves ongoing guidance and inspiration as our Chairman.
I want you to be confident that Apple is not going to change. I cherish and celebrate Apples unique principles and values. Steve built a company and culture that is unlike any other in the world and we are going to stay true to thatit is in our DNA. We are going to continue to make the best products in the world that delight our customers and make our employees incredibly proud of what they do.
I love Apple and I am looking forward to diving into my new role. All of the incredible support from the Board, the executive team and many of you has been inspiring. I am confident our best years lie ahead of us and that together we will continue to make Apple the magical place that it is.
Tim

Can Apple continue on its path without Jobs? Cook is, after all, Jobs right-hand man and hand-picked successor. I imagine so. Even when Apple went through all the drama with Sculley and Jobs, it seemed to be on the right path. But we all know what happened in the early nineties, and how the company just took off with Jobs back on the scene. (Eff you Sculley!!) Jobs had vision, he had cajones, and thats what is needed today to really push the envelope on creativity. My only wish is that Apple doesnt rest on its laurels and years from now we have iPad 5, iPhone 12, etc. What sets Apple apart is innovation and its brand. The heat is definitely on. Lets see what Tim can Cook up!!
