Appropriate Time For Skincare
There is a biological clock for all the biological processes in our human bodies
. During the physiological time, there are certain periods of time that are best for skincare. Perform the right skincare procedures in these physiological time double the effect of our skincare products and our efforts. This article will walk you through the best skincare procedures to do during different time period of the day!
Under our skin, there are sebaceous glands which secrete sebum (oil). Though we may feel oily for this sebum secretion, it is the natural and powerful protection to our skin. The sebum is mostly secreted from 8am to 12 noon. That means our skin is the best protected during this period of time. Under this natural protection, our skin is most resistant to irritation and we can perform salon treatments like freckle and hair removal, acne treatment, lacer treatment and peeling. In addition, our skin also has the highest restoration power during this period of time. Therefore, any irritation caused by the salon treatments can recover at the highest speed.
After a big lunch at noon, we need to digest it. Blood circulation increases for digestive system and decreases for skin, therefore we say that the skin is tired in the afternoon. When skin is tired, moisture is lost and we need to replenish the moisture. For those working in office during the afternoon, you may not be able to re-apply skincare products. You may simple have a water spray for skin hydration.
All the food should have been completely digested at around 4pm. With plenty of nutrients absorbed, you body becomes active again. When the body cells are active, the oxygen content in blood increases as well, which further induces higher absorbency of skin. Starting from 4pm, it is good for having a spa for relaxation and detoxification. Other than spa, you may do exercises to further facilitate skin detoxification.
When I was young, my mother told me not to remove my blackhead at night. I thought it was a joke but now I think it is more reasonable. At the night from 8pm to 11pm, our blood pressure decreases. We may easily experience swelling (edema) and inflammation during this period of time. That is the reason why we should avoid the irritating acne treatment and blackhead removal at night. After 11pm until 5am, the skin cells go through another physiological cycle. During this period, skin cells actively grow and regenerate. They attain their maximum absorbent ability. Therefore, it is important for us to apply nourishing and restoring skincare products before we go to bed at 11pm.
Secretion of adrenal cortex hormone increases from 4am and such secretion is highest from 6am to 7am. As the adrenal cortex hormone inhibits the formation of protein, cell activities come down to their bottom. When cell activities decrease, moisture is accumulated in the cells and circulation in lymphatic system slows down. Therefore, it is common to find your eyes and face swell when you get up in the morning.
