Are E-learning Solutions Articulate Enough To Captivate Learners?

With apparently around 20% of all Americans and nearly 4 million people in Britain

owning a tablet these days, it seems to me that it has become imperative that this technology is taken in to account when creating new e-learning solutions.

This rapidly expanding and evolving nature of mobile technology has lead to greater expectations from e-learning users, who wantt to be able to start a course on their PC at work, continue it on their mobile phones on the bus and even complete it on their tablet at home. All this with not only a seamless transition visually from one device to another, but with the ability to continue exactly where they left off without any repetition of previous work.

E-learning solutions that will work across many different platforms have not always been easy to create without simplifying content to a level that, frankly, can make for a quite dull and uninspiring experience for the participant.

It seems though that this has now got a lot easier to avoid, especially for those of us who are, shall we say, a little technically challenged.

The new version 6 of Adobes Captivate has provided us with the opportunity to create engaging e-learning platforms with a great deal of ease and also some style as well.

You can now add in Actors instead of Avatars to add a more human interactive element to your courses, there is a fairly good selection of different people ready installed to liven up your e-learning content, but if none suit, you can always buy more from a much bigger online selection.

You can also now import almost anything you like from a PowerPoint presentation, which enables you to keep all your presentations synchronized much more simply updated.

There are a wde range of other really useful features too, but, the best thing about Captivate 6, however, is the ability to publish directly to HTML5 in addition to publishing simultaneously to Flash SWF, allowing you to create cross platform courses which to the larger part, have the exact same capabilities on what ever device you chose to use them.

As with most things in this world, the cross over is not 100 percent, but most of the functionality that is lost, will be flagged up so that you can delete and replace it with something that will work, or is of little value on smaller hand held devices anyway such as rollover captions and rollover images.

All this innovation and continuing development of e-learning software can only make our e-learning courses better. Better by design, better as an experience and better at providing effective e-learning solutions.
