Are Pre Flight Yoga Lounges Going To Happen Any Time Soon?
Of the many different gimmicks that airlines have planned yoga lounges in airports could happen
. But why would they build yoga lounges in airports?
People love to be relaxed when they're about to fly. They like to feel loose and limber, and perhaps a little drowsy so that when they get on the plane they can have a little food and fall straight asleep. Yoga is a good way to achieve this. But can you imagine yoga lounges being built next to the gate for flights from Omaha to Las Vegas any time soon? Some people studying the future of air travel predict that yoga lounges are exactly the sort of development that could come to the airport before you may have thought.
This would be part of an airline's attempt to separate itself from the competition. I would certainly be more inclined to visit an airport that has a wellness centre, a quiet zone where you can sleep, and a area where a yoga instructor leads hourly classes for anyone who wants to try the activity before jumping on flights from Oakland to Washington for example. Yoga is not as low-energy as you might expect, and it's not just an hour of stretches.
It can in fact be quite a serious workout that leaves you refreshed and ready for your flight, as well as stretching out muscles which will lay dormant whilst you're on the flight. Quite simply, yoga lounges in airports are a really good idea. I'd certainly be an extra fee on top of my flight fee if I knew that the airport had a number of fun activities that I could engage in before taking flights from Boston to Birmingham. In fact, I can't think of a single thing that would be more relaxing than yoga studios at airports.
