Are Teeth Bleaching Products Really Safe?
There are so many different teeth bleaching products that are available out there on the market
, and many of them may be good treatments for people who are unsure about the safety or effectiveness of chemicals to make their smiles bright. There are still many people who remain unsure of the safety and the results of these methods, but most people who are interested in them are pleased with the results and they usually experience little or no side effects from the treatment choices that they make. There are some people though who do have some adverse reactions with these kits, so read on to find out if you might be at risk for side effects.
There are some risks that are involved with the chemicals that are used, although these are usually minimal. Teeth bleaching products involve the application of solutions to whiten the teeth. Probably the biggest thing you need to keep in mind is that these solutions sometimes are a bit strong, and those people who have sensitivity issues with their teeth or sensitive gums may encounter more irritation than usual. Also, you should never leave the teeth bleaching products on your teeth for longer than recommended, because it can start wearing away the enamel on your teeth!
Health experts do not recommend bleaching products that contains more than 3% bleach. Bleach products with only 0.1% are sufficient, and any more than that might will raise concern about tooth damage. Teeth that are exposed to these treatments for a longer length of time will cause severe damage to teeth. It is advisable that you whiten your smile while under the direction or guidance of a dentist. At the very least, especially if you really have no experience yet with whitening, you may want to contact your dentist to see which types of home kits they recommend for your specific teeth.
If you drink a ton of coffee, cola, tea or you are a heavy smoker, you need to be extra cautious when you are using teeth bleaching products. This is because some chemicals from these activities can interact with the ingredients in these kits and cause adverse reactions. In addition, women who are pregnant or nursing should not usually use these products because of the risk of ingesting the toxins and having them travel to their unborn babies. If you are ever unsure about anything that has to do with using teeth bleaching products and the safety of your mouth and gums, you should always check and talk it over with your dentist.
