Are Television Warranties Worth The Price?

Some may think that television warranties are not worth the time or the money

, even when the manufactures warranty is so short. On average warranty from the manufacture will last a year, and in some case a bit more depending who it is. For that period of time you are covered for faults that may develop, and it offers a piece of mind in that situation.

However, what happens when the manufacture warranty runs out, and you are then left with no protection. In many instances problems often occur after the manufacture warrant has expired, leaving you with a very expensive unusable television. For argument sake we have a 500 plasma television, which to warranty protect for two years would cost 139.20. That over a two year period is a small expense compared to your television developing a fault, and leaving you with the decision of paying for a repair or buying a new one. Some warranties will replace the television if they cannot fix the issue, which for 139 on a 500 television is of some comfort. They will also often cover accidents that happen, something some manufacture warranties do not offer.

The biggest advantage is the fact you have peace of mind when something does go wrong, and help is only phone call away. Televisions are not cheap and with many spending a lot to build a home cinema system, losing the central piece can devastating to some.

Lastly there are a few points to consider when deciding if a television warranty is worth it. Firstly, what is the value of the television? As already mentioned spending 139.20 extra is a small expenditure, compared to paying another 500 television. Secondly, consider the cost of the extended warranty; can you afford to pay for another television? And thirdly as already mentioned how long does the manufacturers warranty last? It is always to better to get that extra protection even if your television stays in working order, not having that protection could land you with a bigger expense.
