Arranging Class Reunions

There are many reasons why someone might be interested in a class reunion

. For many people, keeping in contact with their friends and companions from school is difficult or impossible during the course of their life. Many people have not been able to maintain contact and after school have gone on to work or higher education and in many cases have moved out of the area where they went to school.

Class reunions are difficult to plan and require a lot of time and effort, as well as some money, in order to successfully arrange. There are many issues that go into planning a class reunion and the first issue the organizers are likely to encounter is locating the class members. Given the time and distance involved, this could take weeks or months. In recent years the increase in participation on social media websites has eased this process somewhat.

Arranging for the reunion itself is another difficulty. A location that is large enough to hold the expected attendees is an important component of the plan. However, just reserving a location is not enough. Organizers must be able to make the other arrangements that go with a class reunion.

Things that need arrangement include the invitations, which require first locating the members of the class, including their physical addresses, and keeping track of those who have responded that they will come. Beyond this, the organizers must also arrange for food and entertainment if they wish to have those things at the reunion. This can also include gathering information about the members of the class and distributing it to others.

In many cases, the reunion itself involves voting on various awards for the members of the class, reminiscent of the kinds of awards that were given as seniors in high school. These categories depend on the temperament and things that are part of the culture of the classmates involved. This can include things like awards for the person who travelled farthest to be at the reunion.

The reunion can be as formal or as casual as the organizers want it to be. Some reunions are afternoon barbeques and are very casual. Others take the form of cocktail parties and are far more formal.

There are those that feel anxious about going to their high school reunion because they are concerned about their classmates and remember the issues that they may have struggled with in school. Others are happy to attend because they are proud of their achievements since they graduated or are just interested in catching up with their friends from school.

There are many aspects to a class reunion that require effort and planning but its worth the effort for your friends and classmates.
