Art and Motoring Meet in Jakarta

I touched down in Indonesia to do a story on the Muscle Car scene in Jakarta. As I always do when overseas I like to visit local hot spots, eat, and experience the culture of each place I visit. While I was out and about discovering more of Jakarta I ran across a great display of automotive and motorcycle artwork at a local shopping mall. Artist working with BMW hoods, recycled materials, and lots of creativity produced some amazing art. I wish I had more room in my luggage, but I think the airlines generally frown on bringing large automotive parts on the plane with you. Intermixed with the art were great cars, amazing shops, and the excitement of a new city.

Jakarta is a amazing town, I not only had the opportunity to meet with Indonesia's top hot rodder, but also was invited to the Jakarta International Auto Show. No matter were I have gone, I always find that car guys are the same all over the world. The artists that put together this exhibit were passionate about their work and excited to be receiving so much international attention.

Check out some of the great artwork below. Intermixed with the art were some of the hottest new cars on display including the new Porsche Spyder, Ferrari California, Audi R8, Fiat 500 Abarth, and the best from Jaguar, Maserati and Aston.

Motorcycle Art was featured throughout the mall, with each floor of the massive mall I discovered another amazing display.
