Article Marketing Strategies: How To Create A Reserve Of Article Submissions

Writing articles on a consistent basis is the key to article marketing success

. But what happens when you go on vacation or when you go through a busy time in your business? How can you keep submitting articles on a steady basis when you're not able to write articles?

It takes a little planning, but there is a way to create a reserve of articles for those times of need. The goal is to write five articles each week for five weeks, and that will leave you with twenty-five articles.

If you're submitting two articles a week, then you've just created about three months worth of articles in a little over a month. It may not be your ideal writing strategy, but it can be quite useful for those times when you know you won't be able to sit down and write.

Here are some tips for creating a reserve of articles in this fashion:

1 - Be very specific about the topic that you'll cover for each article.

One tactic is to break your general niche into sub-topics, and then decide to cover one of those sub-topics for each week's articles, with each article covering a different angle on that sub-topic.

Not only will you have an easier time coming up with writing topics, but you'll also cover these sub-topics in great depth, seeing as though you're devoting five separate articles to each sub-topic.

2 - Limit the length of your article.

The length of your article is best monitored by the word count. If you don't put a word count limit on your articles, it is very tempting to just keep on writing. Before you know it, your little article has become a doctoral thesis!

Since you're trying to keep on schedule with writing one article a day, you need to have some boundaries on how long you'll let each article be. I would suggest you keep your articles somewhere between 450 and 800 words.

3 - Determine what time of day you'll write.

First, choose which five days you'll write each week. Then decide what time you'll write--this time is like an appointment. You're setting aside time on your schedule to write each day. Some find that scheduling writing time in the morning works out best, since the earlier you start the less chance that your plans will be derailed. It doesn't matter what time of day you choose though--ideally it will be a time that you have predetermined and put on your schedule.

4 - Use "Time Blocking" to help you write more efficiently.

Time blocking is a productivity technique where you assign a certain amount of time for a certain task. For example, if you were going to do all of your Christmas shopping in one day, and you "time blocked" two hours in which to complete your shopping, theoretically you would be operating at a heightened state of efficiency and would make decisions much more easily knowing that you had the imposed time limit in which to make your purchases.

The same thing can apply to writing articles. If you give yourself a reasonable time limit (let's say 2 hours), you would be more likely to write in a highly concentrated and efficient mode. You would be less susceptible to distractions because you know you only have a certain amount of time in which to complete your article.

This productivity method might work for some and not others--you know what makes you write at your best. When you're trying to write an article a day though, you may want to experiment with some productivity techniques to see if they will help you keep on track.

Your planning and effort will pay off--you can imagine yourself taking three months off from writing when you get finished. If you're going on vacation, imagine that time at the beach (or wherever) when you can just relax, knowing that your articles are already written and that you're not falling down on your marketing for your website.
