When you first start submitting articles for article marketing

, you may not be quite sure how to go about it. 1 - Be consistent with your article submissions.

This means submitting an appropriate number of articles each month over the long-term.

2 - Be sure that you're submitting a sufficient number of articles for each website you're marketing.

If you're writing articles for multiple websites, you'll need to write more articles a month than someone who is just marketing one website. Submitting a sufficient quantity of quality articles is a key element to article marketing success.

3 - Do your keyword research.

Keyword research is really not as hard or intimidating as it sounds. You don't need to hire anyone to do your keyword research (although you can if you like). You can do it yourself for free using the free keyword research tools that Google provides.

4 - Use your keywords to form captivating titles.

When you've located some keyword phrases you'd like your website to rank highly for, use them as part of your article title. Of course the words have to make sense in the context of the title, and the title must accurately reflect what your website is about. Try putting your keyword phrase at the beginning of your title, if possible.

5 - Create a schedule for your article writing, and stick to it.

Having a plan is great, but if you're not actually following through and writing the articles, then the greatest strategy in the world won't do you much good. The most common reason for not succeeding at article marketing is just failing to write articles on a regular basis. That is the most basic aspect of article marketing, but it's the area where the most people fall short. Writing on a regular basis is a habit that needs to be learned, and many people who have never written articles before develop this habit over time. You can do it too!

6 - Create a writing ritual that you do each time you sit down to write.

I like to start by doing a writing warm-up, where I just type free form for about 3 minutes. I use this time to loosen my fingers and my brain up so that when I start writing my article for real, the ideas flow more naturally. Doing a writing warm-up is similar to a golfer taking a few practice swings, or a runner jogging a bit before starting to run with his full energy.

Article marketing is a mixture of craft (writing the articles), discipline (for writing the articles), and a little bit of technology (doing the keyword research). It's completely doable for your average business owner and can be a very fulfilling, hands-on marketing tool that pretty much anyone can do over the longterm.
