Artist Triumphs Over Adversity

Argentinean artist Fabian Perez's colourful life is an encouraging tale of how creativity can conquer catastrophe.

The painter has overcome personal tragedy to produce sultry and exotic Fabian Perez prints which are now in demand across the world.

Fabian's artistic personality would be shaped by the turbulent environment he encountered from an early age as he was born into a country coping with post-Peron political upheaval.

Fabian's creative talents were clear from birth and by nine he was already painting portraits of family and friends which belied the immaturity of his years.

An unconventional childhood in the small city outside Buenos Aires in which he lived was inevitable due to the fascinating lives of his father and mother who did so much to encourage his abilities.

Fabian's mother was a bohemian figure while his father would often frequent nightclubs and operate after dark to pursue his business dealings.

The young Fabian was exposed to the glamorous world of tango dancers, flamenco guitarists and women who "could seduce a man simply by lighting a cigarette" through the activities of his father.

All seemed to be going well in Fabian's life until tragedy struck at the age of 16 with the loss of his mother and just three years his father also passed away.

After the death of his parents, Fabian embarked on a pursuit for self knowledge and this led him to the world of martial arts where he soon became adept at karate due to his exceptional physical skill and self discipline.

Fabian's karate master encouraged the young artist to take charge of his own life and with this advice Perez left Argentina to settle in Italy for seven years.

This was an exciting time for Fabian's painting and Italy inspired him to write his book "Reflections of a Dream".

Fabian's art reached new heights when he arrived in Los Angeles in 2001 and two art publishers and gallery owners saw an exhibition of his work.

They immediately saw potential in the Fabian Perez prints and joined forces with the painter to develop his career as a fine artist.

The partnership was an outstanding success and now Fabian Perez prints often sell out immediately due the interest in his work.

"It's been thirty years that my wheels travel on a sandy road. In my tracks, I've left things behind, and lost many others. As the wheels turn I can see a road ahead that will take me to many new experiences," Reflections of a Dream.
