Before handling a lens, the wearer needs to wash and dry his or her hands thoroughly. And then squirt lens solution directly on each side of the lens. After that, put the lens in the lens case filled with fresh solution and let the lens soak on its own. When the wearer wants to put a lens in the eyes, he must rinse each side again with fresh solution. For lenses that last for a long time, normal lens solutions can not do a good job. In this case, protein-removing tablets are needed to further remove protein build-ups.

Lens storage also requires some precautions. In order to prevent solution from leaking out, lens case should have screw-down lids. In addition, lens case needs regular washing with soap and boiling once a week.
