At Least I Still Had My Stable Rugs And Turnout Rugs I Suppose
In times of crisis you always find out who your true friends are
. I'm not saying that you should never again speak to the people who don't help you but you should always make sure you keep the people who really helped you close. Annoyingly I had my tackroom broken into early this week and I was devastated, luckily the horses were safe and well but I couldn't help but think about how much money it was going to cost me to replace all of my tack which they had stolen. In total it's going to cost around three thousand to replace everything and as you can imagine it isn't a small amount to be paying out this close to Christmas. I didn't think we were insured but luckily the house insurance will cover some of it but I'm still left with a large bill after the insurance has paid for some of it.
The thieves left behind all stable rugs and turnout rugs and obviously just took the valuable stuff, which was bridles and saddles. I suppose at least with the stable rugs and turnout rugs still in the tackroom I could make sure the horses were warm but at least it wouldn't have cost me a lot of money to replace them.
Some of my friends really came to the rescue and offered me their tack. I thanked them but declined at first as I'm someone who really refers my saddles to be made to measure for my horses. The saddle fitter came out yesterday and fitted my saddles but I then had to ride in a head collar as I have no bridle which wasn't very safe! I took my one friend up on the idea and I'm borrowing her bridles, stirrup leathers and irons and girth until mine arrive. Although they're all ordered they haven't arrived yet and I need to get back in the saddle to prepared my horses for the upcoming competitions. I tell you what my friend is a life saver and shes really helped me out of sticky whole. Hopefully I can repay the favour one day.
