Democracy emanated in this very city, along with other great traditions and customs of the present world. It was one of the richest civilizations in history. It is the Syntagma Square in the middle of the city. The sea breeze you are looking for awaits you a further few miles from the city's centre in Faliro, Voula etc. For people more enthused about the fresh breeze, you should take a walk up north.

When in 2004, the Olympic Games returned to its cradle, it was celebrated and managed with great pomp and show, magnificent as one might say.

One of the places you must visit while in Athens is the National Archaeological Museum of Athens. All the cultures that are known to have flourished in Greece have been preserved in this museum. It is one of the most important museums regarding Greek history and heritage.
