Sixth Street When most people think of downtown Austin, 6th Street is the first place that comes to mind. This lively street features a long winding strip of bars, restaurants and music venues and its completely packed from Thursday evening until Sunday night. It attracts a large college crowd so it gets a little boisterous, but be prepared to have a great time. If college bars arent your thing, head to West 6th Street and youll find the bars to be filled with a slightly older more professional crowd. Lady Bird Lake and Hick and Bike Trail This beautiful lake is a popular spot for fitness enthusiasts. Not only is it perfect for hiking and biking, its an ideal spot for kayaking and canoeing as the majority of motorized vehicles are banned on this large lake. It features a 10 mile long trail thats usually packed with locals walking their dogs, playing Frisbee and riding their bicycles. The south park is also home to frequent outdoor music festivals and concerts. Fourth Street Known as the warehouse district this strip attracts an older crowd than 6th Street, but its known for its classy bars and restaurants. But as the crowds get older, expect to pay a whole lot more for that martini.
