Avandamet is a prescription drug that has been found to be extremely effective in the treatment of type II diabetes

. This drug comprises of two important ingredients called Rosiglitazone and Metformin that are proven to reduce and maintain blood sugar levels. It acts by improving the sensitivity to insulin and aids to lower the absorption of sugar into the system.

This drug is made by Glaxo Smith Kline and comes in the form of pills of varying strengths. It comes in strengths of 2mg/500 mg pills, 2mg/100mg pills, 4mg/500mg pills and 4mg/1000mgpills of Rosiglitazone and Metformin respectively. The normal dosage prescribed is one to two times daily. It would be better to have this medication along with food to avert any stomach upsets. Avandamet has been found to be quite a well tolerated drug in most people while some rare cases of adverse effects have been found. The most common adverse effects that have been reported in people using this drug are nausea or vomiting, upper respiratory infections like cold, diarrhea, headache, stomach upsets and heartburns. But in most cases, these adverse effects are trivial and wane off after the patient gets attuned to the medication.

This drug cannot be used to treat type I diabetes. Avandamet should not be taken along with insulin and should be avoided by people who are victims of kidney complications, congestive heart failure and liver problems.
