Avoiding Sexual Assults
Sexual Assault can be the most degrading of all crimes
. The rapist really does not get any sexual satisfaction but he or she gets a thrill from controlling the indiidual being raped. In some cases the rapist will even murder the victim to keep them from testifying in court against them. This makes it more imperative to take precautions to eliminate from being a rape victim.
Never use your your first names on mail boxes or telephone. Always use a initials on the first names. First name gives away weather you are a male or female. Lets face it the mail box is right in front of your house and in a telephone directory, your name and address are like a red flag for rapists. If you can afford it, get a post office box address and have a unlisted/unpublished telephone number. This is on of the safest ways to protect yourself from a sexual assult.
It is a bad idea to remain alone in an apartment laundry room or even in a parking garage. Always have dependable friends with you in a laundry room or while you are walking to your car in a parking garage. When on the telephone or at the front door, never admit being alone. Being alone is an open invitation for an attacker to come after you. Protect yourself weather in a laundry room, parking garage or in your apartment. Never give a rapist a chance to take advantage of you!
If a person you just met offers you a ride home, do not accept that ride. One never knows what the person is like. Never take the chance of putting your life and body out for a person that might be a rapist or possibly a killer/rapist.
Your whole goal is to avoid sexual assults but there just could be an attacker that could get you alone and rape you. If you are attacked, remember that you must incapacitate the attacker long enough to get to safety and help. How does one do that? Ask him to go away and leave you alone? You know that will never happen. If you have training in martial arts, you could over come the attacker yourself. My suggestion would be to be prepared and carry some type of non-leathal weapon (not a hand gun or a knife) - stun gun or pepper spray. Be prepared and carry a defensive weapon.
If you are sexually assulted. contact the police immediately. Do shower/bathe or change your clothes, because you could destroy evidence. Give the police a chance to investigate and arrest your attacker. Never give up and if you need mental help ask people around you for help in doing so.
