B.c Pnp Canadian Immigration
British Columbia has an immigration program split into two categories
. The Strategic Occupations Stream, requires all applicants to have a valid job offer that conforms to certain requirements from an employer in British Columbia. British Columbia's Business Immigration Stream requires that the applicant invest in or purchase a business in British Columbia.
Strategic Occupations Stream
In order to qualify under this stream the applicant requires a valid job offer from a BC employer that falls into one of the following categories:
Skilled Worker: the job offer may be in any skilled level position in British Columbia, in accordance with the Canadian National Occupational Classification Matrix (NOC)
Designated Health Care Professionals: the applicant must be a registered nurse, psychiatric nurse, midwife or a physician in British Columbia
International Graduate: the applicant must have completed a degree/program in an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution within the last two years
Semi-Skilled Worker: the job offer must be in the tourism/hospitality, food processing or long-haul trucking industries and the applicant must have already worked for the employer for nine consecutive months
International Post-Graduate Pilot Project: this program is for students who obtained a Masters or Doctorate from an eligible B.C. post-secondary insitution within the last two years, if their degree is in natural, applied or health sciences.
NOTE: The International Post-Graduate Pilot Project category does not require a job offer from an employer in British Columbia.
Business Immigration Stream
The purpose of this stream is to facilitate immigration to British Columbia for those willing to purchase, establish or invest in a business in the province. British Columbia requires that the business primary purpose be to generate profit by selling products and services, that the viability of the business is probable and that the business provides economic benefit to The Province.
BC defines the term "economic benefit" in the following way:
increasing the exports of goods/services;
increasing value-added manufacturing, processing, or primary resource activity;
increasing BC tourism;
increasing research and development and technology commercialization;
creating innovative approaches to traditional businesses;
servicing an underserved regional market;
transferring skills, technology, and know-how to BC
This stream is divided into 3 categories, their requirements are as follows:
Business Skills Category
Net worth of at least $800,000 CAD
Minimum investment of $400,000 CAD in an eligible business in British Columbia
Ownership of at least 1/3 of equity in the business
A plan to create at least 3 new jobs for Canadian citizens or Canadian permanent residents
Experience and qualifications required to participate in an active managerial capacity in the enterprise
Regional Skills Category
Net worth of at least $400,000 CAD
Minimum investment of $200,000 CAD in an eligible business in British Columbia
Plan to establish the business outside of the Vancouver & Abbotsford Metropolitan areas
Ownership of at least 1/3 of equity in the business
A plan to create at least 1 new job for a Canadian citizen or Canadian permanent resident
Experience and qualifications required to participate in an active managerial capacity in the enterprise
Strategic Projects Category
This program is designed for foreign-based companies who seek to establish a business presence in the British Columbia marketplace and allow managerial and technical staff to obtain Canadian permanent residence. (Maximum of 5 people)
Minimum investment of $500,000 CAD
Prove that the applicants are essential to the company and have managerial or technical experience
Provide evidence that the foreign company has a record of good business practices
A plan to create at least 3 new jobs for Canadian citizens or Canadian permanent residents
Fast-track option: Applicants under the Business Skills and Regional Business programs, can fast-track their nomination in British Columbia by making a $125,000 refundable performance deposit and signing a Deposit Agreement with the province.
