Baby Development Guide: Week 9 By Birth Announcements 4 Baby
Congratulations- you have made it through your first month! This article will cover
the second month of your new childs development and offer some parenting tips to help you along the way.
There will be a lot of developments in the second month of your babys life. Her eyesight is immediately sensitive but will be rapidly improving. You can help her develop in this area by using mirrors, bright colors and toys. Using these things will also give you quality time with your child.
There is a good chance you might see your first smile in the second month! Even better, over the course of the next several weeks and months your child will increase responsive social interactions as well (smile in response to someone smiling at her for example). Continue to stimulate growth by interacting with her, but do not overdue it.
Your childs sleeping patterns might also be changing about now. He will shift to being awake for around 10 hours a day and his nighttime sleep might increase in length, thus giving you more sleep yourself!
Physically, your child should also be able to hold his head at a 45 degree angle by the end of this month. During his two month pediatrician check-up, a number of other physical developments will also be checked, including possibly the beginnings of vocal developments.
In order to help encourage developmental progress in your baby, researchers highly recommend frequent physical touch. A child simply develops more quickly when he or she is loved on and cared for through physical interaction. Also, try to be relaxed and at ease when dealing with crying or difficult situations. Your attitude helps set the tone for your babys response- if you are frequently stressed out your baby might be more prone to cry and vice versa.
And finally, try to use baby talk often with your baby. She will love hearing your high-pitched voice talking with her and responding to her verbal communication. Pretend to have a conversation with her or simply ask her questions throughout the day. Even if you do not see much progress, she is learning and absorbing much of what she witnesses.
