Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort Will Host Key Tourism Event Aimed At Promoting Dominican Republic Holida

, also known as Asonahores, is busy preparing for what industry experts and stakeholders describe as the single most important event of the year for the Dominican Republics tourism industry - the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE).

Officials at Asonahores have announced that DATE will be hosted at one of the many luxurious Dominican Republic hotels in the beautiful beach resort of Punta Cana - the Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort. This will be the sixth year that the Barcelo Bavaro has hosted the DATE event, as a result the hotel has earned the unique distinction of hosting DATE more than any other resort or hotel in the Dominican Republic.

It is no surprise that the Barcelo Bavaro Resort has been selected as the hosting venue once again, given that it is one of the most popular hotels for travellers booking Dominican Republic holidays in the enchanting Punta Cana district. The hotel has recently completed a $330 million renovation project including a redesigned golf course, a luxury spa and a water park especially designed for children making this the ideal spot for a family friendly break in Punta Cana. First launched by Asonahores in 2000, DATE has flourished over the years, with the number of tour operators interested in developing partnerships and selling package holidays to the Dominican Republic growing with each passing year. The 2012 event is shaping up to be yet another success with over 400 tourism professionals and government representatives due to attend.

Asonahores officials will be undoubtedly aware of the importance of DATE from a strategic point of view as it provides the opportunity for key partnerships to be forged. Notably, Expedia Inc. recently announced a 12 per cent increase in the number of travellers who booked Dominican Republic holidays in 2011 through its global network.
