Bare Escentuals Makeup Tips For Eyes
Before starting my article I will like to say a few words about health.
"Every human being is the author of his own health or disease."
"He, who has health, has hope. And he, who has hope, has everything."
"It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver."
Tips For Natural, High Quality, Affordable Beauty
I've been using Bare Escentuals almost exclusively for several years and have found many tricks and tips for saving time and money, selecting products to purchase, and creating beautiful looks that won't wear off during the day. Here's what works for me for eye makeup plus a few extra pieces of advice:
Flawless Definition Mascara is by far my favorite Bare Escentuals mascara. Layers build quickly to create dramatic lashes that have little to no clumping. I've never had it smudge or flake on me. Best of all, it's paraben-free. Layer it on top of another mascara, like the Magic Wand mascara, for even more intensity. I love putting it over L'Oreal's Double Extend Beauty Tubes mascara (the only product I use that isn't made by BE.)
Prime Time Eyelid Primer not only makes sure shadow doesn't budge throughout the day, but it also can be mixed with any Bare Escentuals shadow to make a creme eye shadow or liner. Once you apply it, it will last all day, and because it is a creme, you don't have to worry about fall-out ruining the foundation you just applied. This is an easy way to do a smoky eye without a big mess. For a lash-thickening effect, get a little on your lashes before applying mascara.
When using Well-Rested or foundation on dark circles in the eye area, use a fluffy brush like the Blending brush for a less caked look. You can also try creating a creme using the face primer or Eye Rever Upper.
A pale, shimmery eyeshadow is so useful. After I apply my foundation, warmth, blush and mineral veil, I choose a highlighting shadow that is lighter than my skin and has a sheen or glimmer. With a fluffy shadow brush, I completely cover my eye area from lash line to brow, and then softly dust it just below the outsides of the eyes on the high plane of the cheek bones, along the top of my nose, my chin and my forehead. I then finish my eye look. When it is time to do my lips, I line and fill them in with lip liner and then dab the shadow on the inner center or pout of my lips. It looks funny until I coat with gloss. Then it looks incredibly sexy. You can also use a pale radiance product for a more subtle look. Applying a shimmer to the high plane of the cheek bones often reduces the visibility of eye-area wrinkles.
For a quick, easy, natural look, apply foundation, blush, and then fill in your eyebrows. For a little extra, apply mascara and lip gloss. 95% of women look better with their eyebrows filled in. It lifts the eye area, brightens the eye, and adds glamor. The BE eyebrow colors look natural, and stay put all day. Most people look best in Dark Blonde/Medium Brown or Brunette. Only choose a reddish one if you have very red hair. Brunette is great for dark brown to black hair. Dark Blonde/Medium Brown works for almost everyone else. Best of all, that tiny jar lasts for years. I've had mine for two and a half years and have plenty left. The brush and gel in the brow kit are great.
To choose the right blush, look in a mirror and hold the blush tester up in front of your face. The right color will make you look energized when it is held near your eyes, skin and hair. The wrong color will make you look tired and older. It is a subtle thing to notice, but it saves a lot of time when you don't have to try on blushes to find the right one. If you are often tired, peach tones almost always energize, not only in blush, but in eye shadows and lip colors. I often dust my blush on my eyelids for a hint of color when I don't want to spend much time on my look.
When choosing eye shadow, peach, coral and copper tends to make blue eyes look bluer. Beautiful Autumn, Peach Puff and Citrus Twist are great choices. Green eyes look more vibrant in pinks and purples like Devotion, Beautiful Lisa, Sugar Plum and Cupcake. Brown eyes can wear almost anything. Midnight Sky liner looks black but makes the whites of the eyes look whiter and pulls out green tones. Almost everyone looks great in purple. It's like brown with color. I like to keep the more vibrant colors on the lid where it compliments my face rather than distracting from it. Apply color to the lid with your finger for more vibrancy, or with a soft brush for a more subtle look. Mix a shimmery color with water and paint on for a mirror-like finish.
Among my favorite eye shadow kits is the Get Started Eye Kit, which has that awesome angled eyeshadow brush that does everything well, and some great basic colors. Dip the tip of that brush into your crease color and with the tip closest to your eye, windshield-wiper it back and forth from the center of your crease to the outside corner of your eye for an easy, perfect crease. I also love the Rocker Eye Tutorial Kit, which has an awesome wet/dry brush. Trust me when I say that kit is not as scary as it looks. Providing seven different browns, grays and blacks in both shimmery and matte, These two kits provide the foundation for several different looks. Just add another color here and there for variety. If you don't want a whole kit, Queen Tiffany and Queen Phyllis are extremely popular colors. They provide a great basic crease color and highlighter that can be worn alone or with other colors.
I never use water to mix my BE eyeliner. While it works fine for shadow, it tends to smudge along the eye line. I always either mix it with Weather Everything (which is a great deal as it usually lasts at least two years per bottle) or Prime Time Eyelid Primer. I've also mixed it with the Prime Time Facial Primer with great results. Weather Everything should not be used for anything but eyeliner. If you mix it with shadow and apply all over the lid, it will make a crunchy shell. I have never felt a need to line my waterline. If you love to, I've heard that mixing a liner color with Visine to make a liner is a good idea if you want to safely line the waterline of your eye.
To fix small eye makeup mistakes without starting over or ruining what you've done, dab a bit of Eye Rev-er Upper on a cotton swab. The formula is good at just removing a layer of makeup right where you need it. Dab at the "boo boo" until it is gone. Unlike Eye Rev-er Upper, eye makeup remover tends to remove too much and leaves a residue that can make it hard to apply more make up over it.
I hope these tips help you get the most out of Bare Escentuals products. For beautiful, updated looks and more makeup tips, I often watch KandeeJohnson's youtube channel. I love her great advice and bubbly personality. While she rarely uses Bare Escentuals, I can get the same looks using BE products, which saves me money and ensures that what I am putting on my face is good for my skin. Check out my other Bare Escentuals articles as well. Enjoy!!
