The battleships are the ships with powerful guns and armor which are mainly used when civilizations or world powers make an effort to stretch their territory. However, this battle for supremacy can also take place for establishing well-defined trade routes. Most of the battleships were largely built during the period of fifteenth and twentieth century. Linking the term "battleships" with "warships" is not correct. Warships in general are naval vessels designed for fighting wars. On the other hand, the battleships have some typical features and belong to a specific era making them different from rotor ship.

In the olden days, battleships included raised platforms for helping the archers take their position. Later, these erected platforms were further strengthened for placing large guns. The British enjoyed naval supremacy over countries like Netherlands, Spain, and France. They were the world powers in this department for a good period of time.

During the seventeenth century, a fleet of battleships would mainly include two-decker and three-decker ships. Some time later, four-deckers were built mainly because of the historic Napoleonic battles. Though the British enjoyed most of the naval supremacy, the men from France always produced advanced versions. A rotor is a part of a machine that turns around a central point. The usage of rotor blades on a helicopter nowadays has become very common. The biggest plus point of a rotor ship is that they are successful in providing a pollution free environment. Today, environmental pollution is a serious matter of concern. Every human on this planet should understand it before it gets too late. Serious steps have been taken in the recent times for combating this threat. Renewable energy sources in the form of wind power and solar power have proved to be the best alternative for keeping our environment clean.

Though the technology has proved a bit expensive, the developed countries must make all efforts to preserve it. The biggest plus point of a rotor ship lies in its capacity to get folded. This is the main reason why they are also known as collapsible flettner rotor. Flettner rotors have proved more effective compared to traditional sails.
