Be A World Class Communicator With The Right Speaking Training
?
It's one of the great mystery's on the topic of public speaking or presentation skills training that somehow great speakers are just divinely gifted.
Developing the ability to present powerfully, even magically still clings to the should do list not the must do list for the majority of employees and entrepreneurs even though they know it would enhance their careers.
The greatest issue and what clogs up most professionals thoughts is the anxiety associated with speaking to an audience. And this blocks normally rational people from understanding what presenting really is. A skill set. Specifically a communication skill set. And an incredible tool of influence once grasped.
In practice you can use these skills to turn a group of individuals into a powerfully bonded team. All companies would like their employees to deliver more, and deliver faster and it's these skills which give you the ability to inspire, focus and mobilize them to greater results.
If you're in sales or run a sales team these same skills can mean they hit their targets, even go beyond them consistently.
So where do you begin?
The simplest way to learn any new skill is to break it down into manageable chunks. And then approach each chunk in turn, understand the core elements, and practice. The best practice is live, when it matters, because your results, good or bad will give you the greatest feedback as to how you're progressing or what you need to do improve.
Presenting with influence can be broken down into four major chunks.
1. Creating a bond of trust with your group or audience. And my definition of an audience is anything from one to over a thousand.
2. The skills of the platform. Knowing how to make your stage a powerful communication ally. Knowing what your hands are really for. Adding persuasion power with your gestures.
3. Structuring your content. With an audience different people will respond to different aspects of your presentation. Keeping the full attention of everyone in the room means covering the information in the right order and in the right way.
4. Your call to action. All great speakers speak with a purpose. And their presentations are designed to move the listeners to do something with the information they've shared.
There have been numerous studies into great speakers throughout time. And the reason they have been so great isn't luck or chance. It's skill. Which means you can master it too.
