Be Smart When You Drive To Avoid Speeding Tickets

A speeding ticket is not what you counted on today but you got one

. It did not help that you were blasting the stereo too loud as you drove and you could hardly see out your windows because of the snow that you did not clear off of the windshield before you left home.

To make sure you never get another speeding ticket again, you need to watch your speed. You also need to make sure that no one else on the road can hear the music that is coming from your car. If other motorists can hear it, it is too loud for the road.

Having an unobstructed view of the road at all times is essential, both for your own safety, as well as for the safety of other drivers and pedestrians that you come across when you are out and about.

You also need to know what to look for. You do not want to have to deal with an ambush by a cop. Keep your eyes on the road ahead at all times, but also scan the road ahead for any police cruisers or parked vehicles. Not all police cars are of the classic variety so it helps to be on the lookout. Any motor vehicle you see could be a member of the fleet. Roof lighting is a sure sign that a cop is near. If you see any type of lighting on top of a vehicle, you should reduce your speed if you are sailing down the highway.

A spotlight on the driver's side of an automobile indicates that it is a police vehicle. You should also direct your attention to the brake light that is to be found in most vehicles, at the top center of the window in the rear. In a police cruiser, the center lights will be bigger in size. The reason for this is because they also work as blue and white lights. If the center brake light can be seen but it does not light up red when the driver is braking, this lets you know that a cop is driving the motor vehicle.

Many cruisers have more than one antenna on them. If you spy a car like this on the road, you will know that a police officer is in the nearby vicinity. Check your speedometer to make sure that your speed is not excessive. Know the speed limit in the area you are driving in.

If you drive like a speed demon and have avoided getting a speeding ticket up to this point in time, you have been lucky. It is now time to start being more law abiding and start driving in a more responsible manner. Speeding is not all fun and games. It can lead to real harm to yourself, someone else, and property.
