Riverside California real estate is located in the southern region of the state and is the county seat of the county by the same name

. It is named for its location beside the Santa Ana River and is the largest city in this metropolitan area of the state. Conveniently located only about 60 miles east of Los Angeles, just over 300,000 people make the city their home. Riverside is the12th most populous city in California and it spans 78 square miles.

The city was founded back in the 1870s and is actually the birthplace of the world famous California citrus industry. It is also the home of the Mission Inn, which is the largest Mission Revival Style building in the United States. The University of California at Riverside is in the northeast region of the city, and there are many attractions in the area as well including the Metropolitan Museum, which houses artifacts of local history, the California Citrus State Historic Park, the California Museum of Photography and the Parent Washington Navel Orange Tree, which is one of the two original orange trees in the state.

Riverside California real estate is spread out across just over 98.4 square miles of the city and it sits at 860 feet. Riverside is surrounded by mountains, some of which see winter snow. The climate of the area is classified as an arid or semi-arid Mediterranean climate, which means it experiences hot dry summers and mild wet winters. Temperatures during the summers average in the 90s, but the humidity is low. In the winter, temperatures may not rise above 55 degrees. January is usually the coldest month, with the average high temperature being 68 degrees and the low temperature set at about 43 degrees. August is the hottest month for Riverside California real estate, with an average high of 95 degrees and an average low of only 64 degrees. This area sees about 10 inches of precipitation every year, with most of that occurring in the winter and early spring.

Riverside has made successful efforts to reduce pollution by incorporating means of mass transit and by using natural gas for the city's entire fleet of buses. The result has been a significant decrease of emissions in the region. A General Plan for the city was prepared in 1994, then was updated in 2004. The Plan included goals for the city which included areas such as noise, seismic safety, natural resources, transportation and also housing and Riverside California real estate.
