Beer Makes Guys Smarter
It can finally be told drinking beer makes men smarter
. This is the best excuse for pouring a pail of suds down your gullet since ancient human beings brewed beer and realized they no longer needed to hunt and gather to stay healthy.
The good news came from the University of Illinois in Chicago in March, 2012. How did researchers come to this wonderful conclusion?
They assembled a bunch of guys. Half got to down some beers, half didnt. The fellas that drank answered around 40% more of the questions that were posed. They were also quicker to solve brain puzzles. Faster by more than 3-seconds.
Heres one of the questions: What do these words have in common Swiss, blue, cottage.
If youve just finished off a few bottles of lager, you answered cheese faster than someone who is sober.
Its not clear if the results would be the same with the fairer sex. You see, the scientists only invited men to participate. Since the takeaway seems to be that when youre more relaxed, the problem-solving part of your brain is better lubricated for a rapid response, youd think that the same would apply to the ladies.

Depending on how you look at things, there might be a downside. While alcohol turns-on the creativity switch, it shuts-down a large portion of the memory department.
