Bending The Brass Tube

We already know that there are many applications that brass provides not only in

the home but also in various establishments, offices and commercial buildings. There are also many types of brass products such as pipes, tubes and sheets. Brass tubing in particular is commonly used as adornment within the home but there are times when you dont want to buy finish products from the market.

Instead, you will be faced with the fact that you need to bend the brass tubing in order for you to continue with your project. Therefore, it is important that you realize there are a few things that you need and do before bending the tube otherwise maintaining the integrity and full functioning of the brass will be a challenge. You might even risk kinks in the tubing if you did not do it right.

So, what are the things that you need in order to bend the tubing? Of course, you need a brass tubing, propane torch, pencil and sand or salt. As soon as you have gathered all the materials needed, it is time to start the process so that you can go on further with the project in your home. The first step would be to make a mark on the area of the tubing where you want to bend.

Bending the brass tube will always require accurate markings so that the finished item will fit to the kind of project you have in mind. Next, you need to apply heat through the propane torch on the area which you have marked. The application of heat will result to the breaking of the crystallized molecules on the brass. Heat the area that you marked until it becomes red hot.

Once that the marked area is red hot, let the brass tubing to cool down until it returns to room temperature. Most brass tube suppliers will tell you some tips on how to bend the tube therefore if you are not sure of anything you can ask them. Do not try to bend the tube before it cools down because it might cause your tube to over-bend.

Finally, bend the brass tube according to the design that you like. You can get a can or bottle to aid you in the process or utilize sand or salt if you plan to bend the tube into more severe angle.
