Majority of the best clubs and pubs are found in the Fortitude Valley or the Valley. In the morning it's a laid-back Chinatown area, roads filled with several small stalls selling almost anything at dirt-cheap prices. However, come night fall, the place just lights up and becomes more alive with the arrival of guests.

The best nightclub in town is called the Family. It's an award-winning club it's not impossible to dine with the Who's Who in Australia and all over the world. It's also humungous, with two dance floors and four levels.

Two unique architectural clubs are the GPO Hotel and Tivoli. The former used to be a post office while the latter was built in art deco style sometime in the early 1910s. They are also more culturally diverse. They offer not just feel-good music but also visual presentations and other types of live acts.

Eclectic music lovers would have a great time at the Zoo as it plays a wide variety of music, from rock to hip-hop and jazz. There may even feature some folk music once in a while. Head to the Troubadour if you're interested in meeting a lot of people. It can accommodate more than 150 guests at one time. Don't miss out too the lesser-known but quaint and quiet pubs and inns that serve authentic Irish beers.

The Southbank is a popular destination as it sits very close to the Brisbane River where various cruises are being offered. You can also take a ride on the CityCat. There's also the parkland with its many benches, hiking and biking paths, and picnic areas. This is also where you can spend some quiet evening with families and friends.

The best place to be is the Plough Inn Tavern. Situated in an iconic 1885 building, the restaurant provides guests not only the splendid view of the river but also the city skyline. Another alternative is the Ship Inn. For light fares, cocktails, and best tapas, go to Greystone Bar and Cellar.

Jazz enthusiasts can listen to the best 60s tunes and music from big show bands at Birsbnae Jazz Club. The 320 on Leichhardt is the ultimate watering hole for gays and lesbians in Brisbane. Used to be called the Alliance Tavern, it is an age-old cellar that now features a wine bar, pool tables, several pieces of tables and chairs, and a large dance floor. It also has a fine dining restaurant serving authentic Australian dishes at the second floor. Guests can have more fun and entertainment during trivia and karaoke nights.

Traveling to these wonderful nightspots is very convenient, as buses and taxis ply for very long hours. Some of them are located near ferry stops too such as the 1874 Regatta Hotel in Toowong.
