. With the history, tradition and character of the country, no wonder it is a favorite of travelers. From the hustle and bustle of London to the relaxed and tranquil countryside it offers something for everyone. This diversity is what makes it such an attractive option.

When it comes to things to do in England, you have to begin in London. The capital city is one of the major metropolis' of the world. You have Big Ben, the Tower of London and Piccadilly Circus. If you are new to London or it is unfamiliar to you, a good way to alleviate this is to take a double decker bus ride through the city. This allows you to gather your bearings while enjoying an iconic symbol of the city.

London has hosted the Olympic Games twice and will do so again in 2012. If you are partial to sports, London has Wembley as well as Emirates Stadium, Lords, the Oval and Stamford Bridge. London's sporting facilities are only going to be expanded as a result of the Olympics. It will become one of the world's best cities in terms of world class sporting venues.

Away from London you have something such as one of the many great English casinos or Stonehenge which is always a favorite place. You can maybe combine the two and play bingo there. No one really knows what the stone structures were used for. Suffice to say, they have lasted throughout the ages and are now a source of wonder. You may feel they look familiar after seeing pictures of them but nothing can compare to looking at them in real life.

If you like the academic field, you have to stop by Oxford and Cambridge. The two universities are two of the most famous learning institutions in the world. They are hundreds and hundreds of years old and some of the world's most famous people have studied there. Just to step foot there allows you to soak up the atmosphere it has to offer.

Stratford upon Avon is the home of William Shakespeare who is the world's most famous playwright. If you visit it you can see where the likes of Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth and Hamlet were written. You may not like Shakespeare and but that doesn't mean you can't appreciate a visit to the place. The surrounding area is also very scenic.

Speaking of scenery, if you like natural beauty there are so many things to do in England. Such as Quantock Hills. These hills which are in Somerset are a favorite destination for people wanting to go on bushwalks or hikes. The area has been a source of enjoyment for around 1000 years.

In addition you have the likes of Cannock Chase, the Cotswolds, Mendip Hills, Solway Coast and Tamar Valley. Each of these offers much to visitors despite their lesser known profile. And that is the thing, you don't have to be confined to the likes of London and Manchester. There is far more to England, then these places.
