Bird Watching For Beginners

Bird watching can be a fun, interesting hobby

, and if you enjoy it you may find you keep it up for the rest of your life. You can also make a lot of friends by finding other people who enjoy this hobby. Here are some tips for bird watching for beginners.

First, learn something about bird watching. Get some books on the topic. You can find books about birds and bird watching at your local library, a book store like Waterstones, or buy some books online on Amazon. You can also subscribe to magazines about birds, or join a bird watching club.

Next, collect the equipment you will need. You dont need a whole lot for bird watching, but its always a good idea to have a good pair of bird watching binoculars. Binoculars make it easier to see and identify birds that may be too far away to see well.

You may also want a camera with a telephoto lens. Some bird watchers also like to get hiking gear or camping gear so that they can combine their love of the outdoors with their love of birds. Some people also like to carry around a notebook or sketchbook so they can make notes about and draw pictures of the birds they see. But above all you need the binoculars.

Plan an outing. You can go somewhere as close as your back garden or as far away as the Scottish Highlands or the southern coast to watch birds. It really doesnt matter. You dont even have to go to a place that is renowned for being a good place to watch birds. Birds tend to like wooded areas, grassy areas, and places where they can easily find food like worms, seeds, or shell fish.
